De Pendulum Rebreather is een bijzondere Rebreather. De duiker heeft het mondstuk (1) in de mond en ademt door de scrubber (3) naar de contralong (4). Het bijzondere aan dit systeem is dat de ingeademde en de uitgeademde lucht door dezelfde slang aan het mondstuk gaat. Doordat het volume van de long naar het mondstuk vrij groot is, is er sprake van een grote dode ruimte. Hierdoor is het van extreem groot belang dat de duiker zeer goed in- en uitademt om de opbouw CO₂te voorkomen. Een voordeel van het systeem is de zeer eenvoudige constructie en het feit dat de CO₂zeer goed wordt uitgewassen. Zodra het volume te klein wordt om een volledige ademteug te nemen moet de duiker met de handinjector (5) gas toevoegen. Ook worden Constant Mass Injektoren gebruikt, die constant een zekere hoeveelheid zuurstof toevoeren. De flow ligt meestal op 1,5 - 2 ltr/min.

The Pendulum Rebreather is a rather special Rebreather. The diver has a mouthpiece (1) between his teeth and breathes through the scrubber (3)directly into the counterlung (4). Special to this principle is that both inhaled and exhaled air pass the same hose. Because the volume between the counterlung and the mouthpiece is rather big there is a large "dead space". Therefore it is of extreme importance that the diver breathes deep in and out to get rid of the CO2. The advantage of the system is the very simple construction, and that the carbondioxide is being scrubbed out effectively. At the moment the breathing volume is increased because of the metabolic consumption of the oxygen content, the diver simply inject more oxygen by means of a hand injector (5). There are also systems supplied with a constant mass injektor who feed approx 1.5 - 2 ltr oxygen to the counterlung.
